It's powered by a standard nine-volt alkaline battery that is hidden in a battery compartment in the base of the box. Just slide the door open and tug on the ribbon to remove the battery when it comes time to change it. The unit has a key override for when the battery fails as well. The four foot security cable is included with the safe making it extremely easy to lock up to a desk, bed frame, or any fixture that does not easily move.It's California Department of Justice approved meaning it's been tested and proven to withstand light attack.
