LIPS Safe Deposit Lock Combination Key Bank Vault Holland Chubb Hobbs

  
If notthis has been used very little. This is a Safe Deposit Lock made by the LIPS Lock Company Circa early 1900s. Lips was/is located in HOLLAND in the Netherlands. I think I may have completed the sequences but Im unable to open as described in RED.

So I thought maybe someone else could use this unique lock. First release the bankers lock with the single bitted key.

This will retract the top bolt and open the shutter on the lower double bitted keyhole, set the four wheels to AAAA and the renters key should turn half way. Then scramble the code (at least 3 letters either way on each wheel) and then the key with turn fully. Now to change the code with the lock fully or half open. Set the dials to the existing code and then insert the small key in the back of the lock and turn a quarter turn until it stops. The dials can then be pulled out and turned and put in at the new letter position.

The small key is then removed and the lock will now work on the new combination. This lock is described on page 98-99 of the LURE OF THE LOCK. I have those pages pictured along with other pictures of this same style lock in various stages of disassembly. Each combination only has 1 wheel. The double-bitted key is stamped on bow with the same numbers on the interior front plate 614 and C6794.

The small uncut key is used for the process described above accessing the keyhole from the back. Other European lock companies were CHUBB HOBBS BRAMAH. Please see pics as these are most of my description. Item will be packed to arrive in advertised shape.
